The meeting will be followed by a special event sponsored by the Gills Creek Watershed Association and Sustainable Midlands! Crystal Taylor, Project Manager for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Stormwater Services, is coming to Columbia to talk to members of the Gills Creek Watershed Association, Rocky Branch Watershed Alliance and other interested citizens about how Charlotte successfully implemented stream restoration projects and greenways in an urban area. The presentation will be from 5-6pm with a question and answer period from 6-7pm.

Owens Field Park Trash Pickup
Saturday, February 11th 10:30amMark your calendars! On February 11, at 10:30am, the Rosewood Community Council is sponsoring a cleanup of the woods in Owens Field Park. We need volunteers!
We will meet in the Memorial Stadium parking lot at 10:30am. You can join us for as long or as little as you'd like. Please bring gloves and sturdy shoes. Keep the Midlands Beautiful will be providing gloves and bags.

February 2012 Good Clean Fun Saturday: Decker Boulevard area
Saturday, February 18, 9am-12pmThe cleanup will be conducted behind the Bingo Parlor off Decker Blvd between Trenholm Ext and Two Notch Rd in Columbia. Little Jackson Creek flows behind this shopping center. The creek has a lot of trash from the surrounding area in it and much of the trash flows down the creek and ends up in Cary Lake.
The site is a good site for all ages, because little ones can pick up trash in the parking lot and bigger kids/adults can climb down into the floodplain of the creek and pick up trash there. Keep the Midlands Beautiful will provide trash bags and gloves. Please be sure to wear sturdy, closed toe shoes, dress for the weather and bring work gloves if you have them.
